On Monday, June 27, our Ricci went into labor and gave birth to a perfect baby boy at 6:35pm. Ricci & Mike had long ago named him Deegan Matthew. Ricci was happy to finally have her baby here. By 7:00 pm she was happily texting and posting pictures of her baby on Facebook. About 5:00 am on Tuesday, she suffered a brain hemorrhage. She has not been conscious since.
Her condition is a complicated one and we will be protecting many of the details for Ricci's , as well as her family's privacy. Ricci has a long road ahead of her and there are many unknowns along the way. With this kind of injury, there is no way of knowing exactly what we are facing at this time. Time will tell us the whole story. Ricci's husband, Mike, her mother & father, as well as her sister, Ali are with Ricci around the clock.
As of right now, she is in a healing process. This process requires that we keep her in a calm, peaceful & quiet environment. There is no set time to this process. We simply wait, hour by hour, day by day. Small, tiny baby steps is all we can hope for at this time. That she continues to hold her own is all we can hope for. We will continue to keep you all updated on this process.
On the bright side, Baby Deegan is out of the hospital and at home with his Daddy and big sisters, Madi & Elsa, as well as the full support of extended family. He is absolutely beautiful and perfect and is eating like a champ.
We appreciate all the love, concern and prayers that have been shown and given to our family. We would not be able to get through this difficult time without the strength we are drawing from you. We created this blog in order to keep you informed and updated and enable us to focus all our time, energy and attention on Ricci and her family.
We ask that you continue to pray:
for Ricci - that she may heal and continue to heal and be able to come home and be the wife & mother that she was meant to be;
for Mike - that he may continue to be the strong husband & father that he already is;
for Madi, Elsa & Deegan - that they feel the love of their mother when she cannot be with them;
for Ricci's mother, father, sister & brothers - that they have the strength & courage to get them through this trying time
for Chase - that he may intercede from above on behalf of his sister
Our heartfelt thanks and appreciation to all of you as you go on this journey with us.
May God Bless us all!
